A proper service visit is not a filter swap. It should include measuring input and output TDS, checking operating pressure, inspecting every joint for leaks, sanitising the storage tank, verifying the auto-cut-off actually cuts off, and replacing only the consumables that are genuinely due.
The gap between that and what many households actually receive is where the category's reputation comes from. A technician who is in and out in twelve minutes has changed a cartridge and left; he has not serviced anything. The tank — which is where biofilm forms, and where 'my purified water tastes stale' almost always originates — has not been touched.
What we ask providers on this network to do is simple and checkable: measure, record, sanitise, and show you the old parts. You can verify all four without any technical knowledge, which is exactly why they work as standards.
Water Purifier Servicing charges in India
Indicative market rates for sanity-checking a quote. Pricing for identical work varies by 40-60% between providers in the same city, which is why collecting more than one quote is worth the two minutes it takes.
| Item | Indicative charge | Frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Standard service visit (labour only) | ₹350 - ₹700 | 2-3 times a year |
| Sediment filter | ₹150 - ₹400 | Every 6-12 months |
| Activated carbon pre-filter | ₹250 - ₹600 | Every 6-12 months |
| RO membrane | ₹1,200 - ₹3,500 | Every 12-24 months, on condition |
| UV lamp | ₹500 - ₹1,500 | Every 12-18 months |
| Post-carbon polisher | ₹250 - ₹600 | Every 12 months |
| Deep tank sanitisation (standalone) | ₹300 - ₹600 | Included in a full service |
These are indicative ranges refreshed periodically, not quotations. Local rates vary by city and by provider. Always get a price in writing before work starts.
What's included in water purifier servicing
This is the scope we ask providers to quote against. Holding every quote to the same list is what makes them comparable — otherwise you are choosing the cheapest number rather than the best value.
- Input TDS and output TDS measured and written on the service slip.
- Operating pressure check and pre-filter condition assessment.
- Storage tank drained and sanitised — the step most commonly skipped.
- Leak inspection across all housings, joints and the reject line.
- Auto-cut-off and float valve verification, so the unit is not cycling continuously.
- UV lamp hours checked where fitted.
- External cleaning of the cabinet and faucet.
- Only the consumables genuinely due replaced, with old parts shown to you.
Not included
- Filters, membrane, UV lamp and other consumables, quoted separately and confirmed before fitting.
- Repairs to failed components such as the pump, SMPS or tank, quoted as a separate job.
How it works
- 1Tell us what you needOne short form — your city, the job, and how soon you need it. Takes under a minute and costs nothing.
- 2We match you with local providersWe route your request to up to 3 verified providers who actually cover your area, so you are not waiting on someone forty kilometres away.
- 3Compare the quotesThey contact you directly, usually by WhatsApp so you get it in writing. Check what you are quoted against the indicative rates published on this page.
- 4Book whoever you wantYou deal with the provider directly and pay them for the work. There is no obligation to accept any quote.
How often you actually need servicing
Two scheduled visits a year suits most households on treated municipal supply. On high-TDS borewell or tanker water, three is more realistic, because pre-filters load with sediment considerably faster and an exhausted carbon filter stops protecting the membrane.
Calendar-based servicing is a reasonable default, but condition beats calendar. Measure your output TDS monthly with an inexpensive meter and write it down. A stable reading means everything is working; a reading trending upward over two or three months is the earliest reliable signal that the membrane is going, and it lets you plan a replacement rather than react to a failure.
Tip
Red flags during a service visit
- A membrane replacement recommended without showing you TDS readings.
- Every part declared faulty at once — genuine simultaneous failures are rare.
- Refusal to show you the old parts that were removed.
- No service slip, or a slip with no TDS readings recorded on it.
- The tank not opened at all during what was billed as a full service.
- Pressure to sign an AMC on the spot at notably above ₹4,500 for a standard domestic unit.
Servicing a UV or UF purifier
Non-RO purifiers are cheaper to service and easier to get wrong. A UV unit's lamp degrades on hours of use rather than failing outright, so a lamp that still glows may be well below the intensity needed for reliable disinfection. Lamps should be replaced every 12-18 months regardless of appearance.
UF membranes last considerably longer than RO membranes — 24-36 months is normal — but they clog rather than degrade, so declining flow is the symptom to watch rather than rising TDS. On a UV+UF unit there is no TDS reduction by design, so do not let anyone diagnose one by TDS reading.
Water Purifier Servicing by city
Local water chemistry and air quality change both the schedule and the cost, so each city page carries advice specific to that city rather than a swapped name.

What "verified" means
It is a specific claim, so here is exactly what it covers. Every provider on this network has:
- Government photo ID and address verified at onboarding
- Business registration or GST number on file where applicable
- References checked from at least three completed jobs
- Agreed to publish itemised pricing before starting work
- Agreed to record input and output TDS on every service slip
- Removed from the network after two unresolved customer complaints
Verification covers identity, registration and references. It is not a guarantee of workmanship on any individual job, and we are not a party to the contract between you and the provider — you engage and pay them directly. If a job goes wrong, tell us: providers are removed from the network after two unresolved complaints.
What you get from us
- Free to useYou pay the provider for the work, never us for the introduction.
- Compare before you commitMultiple quotes for the same job, so you can see the spread.
- Indicative rates publishedEvery page shows what the job should cost, so you can sanity-check any quote.
- No obligationTake a quote or leave it. There is no cancellation charge because there is nothing to cancel.
