Operating discipline that prevents most breakdowns
- Log feed TDS, product TDS, feed pressure, product flow and reject flow daily. Trends, not single readings, are what warn you.
- Never run the plant with pre-filters overdue — every rupee saved there costs several on the membrane.
- Verify antiscalant dosing weekly. A dosing pump that has quietly stopped is one of the most common causes of rapid membrane scaling.
- Ensure auto-flush is functioning. Membranes left standing in concentrate scale far faster.
- Keep a spares kit on site for production-critical plants: cartridge filters, HP switch, dosing pump spares, and where justified a spare membrane.
Installation, commissioning and service response
Commercial buyers are buying uptime, so the commercial terms matter as much as the equipment specification. Insist on these being written into the purchase order rather than discussed verbally.
- Site survey and feed-water analysis before the final quotation — never accept a specification produced without a water report.
- Defined commissioning scope: civil and electrical prerequisites, who supplies what, and a documented performance test at handover.
