Price tracking

Is this a good time to buy?

Current indicative street prices against MRP with the date each was checked, the Indian sale calendar that actually moves purifier pricing, and the reason the biggest discount is frequently the worse purchase.

Important

No historical price charts yet. Publishing a price series honestly means having recorded it, which means starting one and waiting — not reconstructing something plausible after the fact. This page publishes what we actually hold: current indicative prices with their check dates, and the tracking method. Charts appear when there is a real series behind them.

Purifier pricing in India has two patterns worth knowing, and they run in opposite directions. Air purifier demand is intensely seasonal, peaking with the north Indian winter pollution season, and prices follow it — the same unit can cost meaningfully more in November than in April. Water purifier demand is steadier and mostly tracks the marketplace sale calendar.

The second pattern is what happens to MRP around sales. A discount percentage is calculated against a manufacturer's stated maximum retail price, and that figure is often a reference rather than a price anyone has ever paid. A '55% off' claim tells you about the MRP; the absolute price tells you about the deal.

The practical discipline is unglamorous: note the actual price of the model you want a few weeks before a sale, and compare that number afterwards. It takes two minutes and it is the only check that survives contact with a marketing calendar.

The Indian purifier price calendar

Observed seasonal demand pattern in the Indian purifier market
PeriodAir purifiersWater purifiersWhy
January–FebruaryStill highRepublic Day sale pricingAir demand is still elevated from the winter season; water follows the general sale calendar.
March–MayLowest of the yearSteady, with summer promotionsAir purifier demand collapses once the pollution season ends, and stock has to move. Water purifier demand rises with summer, which works the other way.
June–AugustLowMid-year sale eventsAir remains soft. Water sees monsoon-related demand and mid-year marketplace sales.
September–OctoberRising sharplyFestive sale pricingAir prices firm up ahead of the season, often before the festive discounts land. Water gets the genuine festive reductions.
November–DecemberHighest of the yearPost-festive normalisationPeak air purifier demand meets constrained stock. This is the worst time to buy one and the time most people do.
Observed seasonal demand pattern in the Indian purifier market

This describes the market’s demand cycle, not a prediction about any specific model or retailer. Individual models go on and off promotion for reasons that have nothing to do with the season — a discontinuation being the most common.

Current prices, with the date checked

Every price on this site carries the date it was last verified, because a purifier price with no date is not information. These are indicative street prices, not quotations.

Why the biggest discount is often the worse buy

This is the part a price-tracking page usually leaves out, and it matters more than the discount does.

  • Consumables outrun the saving. A unit ₹3,000 cheaper with a cartridge ₹2,000 dearer per year is the worse purchase before the second year is out — and by then you own it, which is exactly when consumable pricing stops being competitive.
  • Heavy discounts often signal discontinuation. Which is fine if consumables remain available and a serious problem if they do not. Check the replacement cartridge before letting the discount decide.
  • Combined cartridge designs cost more to run. The HEPA gets discarded whenever the carbon exhausts, whatever the machine cost.
  • The wrong technology at any price is the wrong technology. An RO system discounted 50% is still the wrong purchase on 150 ppm municipal supply.

Methodology

  1. Street prices are indicative figures observed on Indian marketplaces, recorded with the date they were checked. Each product page shows its own check date.
  2. MRP is the manufacturer's stated maximum retail price as published, which is the figure a discount percentage is calculated against — and is frequently not a price anyone has paid.
  3. Discount percentage is derived from those two figures and is shown for context rather than as an endorsement of the saving.
  4. We do not reconstruct historical prices. A price series will be published only where we have actually recorded it over time, with the observation dates shown.
  5. Seasonal patterns described on this page are the observed demand cycle of the Indian purifier market, not a prediction about any specific model or retailer.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to buy a water or air purifier in India?
Air purifiers are cheapest in late spring and summer, when demand collapses after the winter pollution season, and most expensive from October to January when everyone wants one at once. Water purifiers are less seasonal and track the general sale calendar — the big festive sales, Republic Day and the mid-year events. Buying an air purifier in April for the following November is the single most reliable saving in this category.
Are festive sale discounts on purifiers real?
Partly. Genuine price reductions do happen, and so does MRP inflation ahead of a sale so that the discount percentage looks larger. The reliable check is the absolute price rather than the percentage: note what a model actually costs a few weeks before a sale, then compare the number rather than the claim.
Why don't you publish a price chart for every model?
Because we would have to have been tracking it, and honestly reporting a series means starting one and waiting rather than reconstructing something plausible. This page publishes what we have — the current indicative price, MRP and the date checked — and the tracking methodology. A chart appears when there is a real series behind it.
Should I wait for a lower price?
For an air purifier, if you are buying in October, waiting until April will usually save meaningfully — but that means going through a pollution season without one, which is a health decision rather than a price one. For a water purifier where your supply has a documented problem, waiting for a sale to fix contaminated water is the wrong trade.
Is the biggest discount the best deal?
No, and the filter price index is why. A unit ₹3,000 cheaper with a cartridge ₹2,000 dearer per year is the worse purchase before the second year is out. Look up the replacement cartridge price for the exact model before letting a discount decide anything.

Prices are indicative Indian street prices recorded on the dates shown, and they move frequently. Always confirm on the marketplace before purchasing. Last reviewed 2026-08-08.
