Philips 2000i Series AC2939
The sensible default for most Indian homes
- Numeric PM2.5 display means you can actually verify it is working, not trust a colour
- 333 m³/h CADR genuinely covers a large Indian drawing room
By technology
HEPA is the only air-purification technology with a settled, testable standard behind it, and it should be the first thing you check. A true H13 HEPA filter captures at least 99.95% of particles at the most-penetrating size, which covers PM2.5, PM10, pollen, dust, most bacteria and the particulate fraction of smoke.
Two words matter. 'True' or 'H13' means the filter meets the standard; 'HEPA-type', 'HEPA-like' and 'HEPA-style' mean it does not, and those phrases appear on a lot of Indian listings. And 'sealed' matters as much as the filter itself — if the body lets air bypass the media, the rating is theoretical. Dyson is the only mainstream brand that certifies the whole machine as sealed to H13.
After HEPA, the number that decides whether a purifier actually works in your room is CADR — how much clean air it delivers per hour. Everything else is secondary.
The sensible default for most Indian homes
Korean engineering, wall-mountable, exceptionally quiet
Fully-sealed HEPA H13, formaldehyde destruction, and a fan
The value benchmark nobody has beaten
360-degree intake for large open living spaces
The quiet bedroom specialist
The bestselling bedroom Philips, still excellent value
Thick carbon bed built for Indian traffic pollution
Streamer discharge that decomposes odours rather than trapping them
HEPA plus Plasmacluster ion technology
Insist on 'True HEPA' or 'H13'. Reject 'HEPA-type' and 'HEPA-like', which are marketing terms for filters that do not meet the standard.
Match CADR to room volume, and buy one size up from the manufacturer's claimed coverage. Claimed figures assume ideal conditions you will never have.
HEPA catches particles; only carbon catches gases and odours. If you live on a busy road, carbon bed depth matters as much as the HEPA rating.
The purifier that stays in use is the one whose filters you can actually buy. Check replacement price and local availability before purchase, not after.
