Every fan on this page draws 35 W or less on its manufacturer's own published specification. That is the honest definition of an energy-saving ceiling fan, and it is a filter rather than a claim — a fan whose wattage is not published cannot appear here, however much its marketing says "power saving".

The arithmetic is worth doing once. At ₹8 a unit, twelve hours a day, 210 days a year: a 28 W fan costs about ₹565 a year, a 35 W fan about ₹706, a 50 W fan about ₹1,008 and a 75 W fan about ₹1,512. Replacing one old 75 W fan with a 28 W fan saves roughly ₹950 a year, and most houses have three or four fans.

One deliberate omission: this page does not rank on BEE star ratings. Star ratings scraped from these manufacturers' pages proved unreliable — review-widget markup poisoned them badly enough that a genuine 5-star Atomberg came back as 1 star — so we rank on the published wattage instead, which is the number the star rating is derived from anyway.

How we chose these

Published wattage or nothing

A fan appears here only if the manufacturer publishes input power and it is 35 W or less. No wattage, no listing — we will not estimate it from the motor type.

Service value where both numbers exist

Low wattage alone can just mean a weak fan. Where air delivery is also published we show CMM per watt, which tells you the fan is efficient rather than merely feeble.

Star ratings are not used here

BEE ratings could not be verified reliably from these pages, so we rank on watts. Check the star label on the box; do not take it from us.

Frequently asked questions

How much electricity does a ceiling fan use?
An old induction fan draws 70-80 W, a current induction fan 50-55 W, and a BLDC fan 25-35 W. At ₹8 a unit running twelve hours a day for 210 days, that is about ₹1,512, ₹1,008 and ₹565 a year respectively.
Which is the most energy efficient ceiling fan?
In this catalogue the lowest verified figures are 25-28 W, from the BLDC ranges. But the fairest measure is service value — air delivery in CMM divided by watts — because a fan that saves power by moving less air has not saved you anything. Above 6.0 CMM per watt is genuinely efficient.
How much can I save by switching to a BLDC fan?
About ₹950 a year per fan replacing a 75 W induction fan, at ₹8 a unit and twelve hours a day. Across four fans that is roughly ₹3,800 a year, which recovers the price difference in about two summers.
Is a 5 star ceiling fan the same as a BLDC fan?
Not automatically, though in practice most 5-star ceiling fans are BLDC because the rating is based on service value and a BLDC motor is how you reach it. Always check the wattage on the label rather than relying on the star count alone.
