Tanker water is the hardest brief in domestic purification, because you do not know what you are treating. The source changes between deliveries, TDS can swing hundreds of ppm month to month, and there is no treatment guarantee upstream. If you live in a Gurugram high-rise, a Bengaluru outer-corridor apartment or a Chennai flat in summer, this is your reality.
Design for the worst case, not the average. Buy a membrane rated well above the highest TDS you have ever measured — 2,000 ppm minimum, 3,000 ppm if you have seen readings past 1,500. Insist on a TDS controller, because the whole point is that your input varies and a fixed blend ratio will be wrong half the year. And treat UV as mandatory rather than optional: tanker water has an unknown microbiological history.
Add one habit. Keep a ₹300 TDS meter by the sink and check your supply monthly. It takes ten seconds, it will tell you when a bad tanker load arrives, and it is the only way to know whether your purifier is still coping.
