Under ₹5,000 you can buy a genuinely useful machine, provided you buy the right type. What works at this price is a handheld for upholstery and cars, a compact wet-and-dry drum for spills, or a basic corded cordless for daily hard-floor passes. What does not work is expecting any of them to deep-clean carpet.
The trap at this price is wattage marketing. Listings compete on motor watts because sealed suction figures would be unflattering, and a 1,200 W budget machine with a leaky body and a coarse filter moves less dirt than an 800 W one built properly. Where a brand publishes kPa, that is the number to compare.
The second trap is service. Most brands here run courier-in warranties rather than technician networks, so a fault means shipping the unit and waiting a fortnight. INALSA and KENT are the exceptions worth paying a little more for, and that is usually the right call outside metros.
