A fan with an integrated light — usually called an underlight — puts an LED ring or panel in the fan's base. It earns its place in two situations: a low ceiling where a separate pendant would be in the way, and a room with no second ceiling point wired for a light.

The better models here make the light genuinely useful rather than decorative: three-step or fully dimmable brightness, and a tunable colour temperature so the same fitting gives warm light in the evening and cool white for working. Orient's Proton and Subaris ranges and Crompton's underlight models both do this.

The trade-off to know about is servicing. When an integrated LED module fails it is a fan part, not a ₹100 bulb, so check the warranty on the light separately from the warranty on the motor.

Frequently asked questions

Are ceiling fans with lights any good as the main room light?
For a bedroom, study or dining area, yes — the better underlights here are dimmable and colour-tunable and are bright enough as the primary light. For a large hall you will usually still want separate lighting, because a single ring at ceiling height spreads unevenly across a big room.
Can the fan and the light be controlled separately?
On the models here, yes — the remote has separate controls for fan speed and for the light, including brightness. Wiring them to one wall switch still lets the remote control each independently.
What happens when the LED in a ceiling fan light fails?
It is a module replaced by a service technician, not a bulb you swap yourself. That is the main argument against an integrated light, so check what the warranty covers on the light as distinct from the motor.
Do ceiling fans with lights use much more electricity?
The LED adds roughly 15-25 W while it is on, which is similar to any other LED fitting of the same brightness. It does not change what the fan itself costs to run.
