At fifty thousand rupees the question changes from how much space to what kind of quality. This budget buys premium-built double doors, three-zone triple doors and, at the very top of it, nothing in side-by-side — that format starts around ₹53,000 and the entry models come with a service-network caveat worth taking seriously.
Two machines define the budget. The Bosch CTC35S03NI at around ₹42,000 is 332 L of genuinely superior engineering: hinges, gaskets and shelf hardware built to still work in year twelve, with a two-year comprehensive warranty rather than the segment-standard one. The LG 340 L triple door at around ₹43,000 buys organisation instead — three independent zones with a convertible soft-freeze middle drawer, and LG's service network.
The one to approach carefully is the Hitachi R-VG340PND at ₹49,000. It is beautifully made, close to silent, and has a vacuum-chilled compartment that genuinely extends how long raw fish and meat keep. But it is 302 L for the price of a 332 L Bosch, it is not convertible, and Hitachi's Indian service footprint is small. Buy it for the vacuum compartment or the silence, not as a general recommendation.
