Borewell water is a different problem from municipal water, and treating it like one is why people go through three purifiers in four years. Groundwater typically carries high dissolved solids, significant hardness, often iron, and in specific regions fluoride, nitrate or arsenic. It also varies with the season and with the water table.
You need RO — that part is not optional, because nothing else reduces dissolved contaminants. But RO alone is not the whole answer. If your borewell water carries iron (orange staining is the tell) or heavy sediment, that must be removed before the membrane, or it will foul within months. This is where a lot of money gets wasted: people buy a good RO, skip pre-treatment, and replace a ₹3,000 membrane twice a year.
Do this in order. Get a lab test — ₹500-1,500 at most local water labs, and worth every rupee. Add pre-treatment if the test shows iron above 0.3 ppm or turbidity. Then buy an RO rated comfortably above your measured TDS.
