Best Air Fryers in India (2026): Ranked on Capacity, Power and Price

An air fryer is a small, fast convection oven, and almost every disappointment in this category comes from the name. There is no frying: a heating element sits above a basket and a fan drives hot air past the food quickly enough to brown and crisp the surface, which is why a brushing of oil replaces a panful. What that does not do is reproduce deep-fried texture. Chips come out closer to oven-roasted — crisp outside, drier inside, without the glassy crust hot oil gives — and anything in a wet batter simply drips through the basket, because there is no hot oil to set the coating. Frozen, factory pre-fried snacks, on the other hand, work superbly. Buyers sold 'fried food without oil' are the ones who regret it; buyers sold 'a fast little oven that crisps things' almost never do.

The second thing worth knowing before you shop is that the litre figure on the box overstates what the appliance can cook. That number is the volume of the basket, not the amount of food it handles well. Air frying only works with the food in roughly one layer, so hot air can reach every surface — pile it up and you are steaming the middle while browning the top. Usable capacity is therefore nearer half the stated volume: 2-3 litres suits one person, 4-5.5 litres two to three, and a family of four needs 7 litres or more. Capacity in this catalogue clusters hard at 4 and 5 litres, which is exactly why so many families end up cooking every meal in two batches.

Wattage is the spec most often misread. The 81 fryers here that publish a figure run from 1,000 W to 2,200 W, and what the higher number buys is faster preheating and quicker recovery when you open the drawer — not crisper food. Running cost is genuinely small because the run time is minutes rather than hours: a 1,500 W fryer for a 20-minute batch draws about half a unit, roughly ₹4 at ₹8 a unit, which is less than bringing a full-size oven up to temperature for the same food. Air fryers carry no BEE star rating in India, so rated watts is the only comparable efficiency number — and only 34 of the 81 models publish one.

Format decides what the appliance can actually do. Basket fryers — 67 of the models here — heat fastest and clean most easily, but they bake badly: the cavity is small and the airflow turbulent, so cakes rise unevenly. If baking matters, the oven-style and air-fryer-OTG formats have a larger, calmer cavity and a real bake mode, at the cost of a longer preheat and considerably more counter space. The one specification that changes daily use more than any other is a dishwasher-safe basket, stated on 22 of these models; preset menus, by contrast, are pure convenience, because each preset only sets a time and temperature you could dial in yourself.

Every price and specification here was read from the manufacturer's own store and product page on 18 September 2026 — 81 models across nine brands, from ₹2,199 for a 2.5 litre Lifelong to ₹25,195 for a 25 litre Bajaj air fryer OTG. Refurbished units are deliberately excluded: Wonderchef lists six 'Renewed' fryers and the cheapest would otherwise have become the headline entry price on every page, which would have been misleading. Marketplace prices on Amazon and Flipkart are frequently lower in sale weeks, so use the links on each model to compare.

One absence is worth naming plainly. Philips more or less created this category in India and is not here, along with Havells, Inalsa, Prestige, Borosil, Glen, Instant, Pigeon and Usha. The reason is the same each time: no price we could read from the maker. Philips's own site returns 404 on both its product API and its air fryer category path, Havells refuses automated requests, and Inalsa, Prestige and Pigeon do not resolve on any obvious store host. We would rather name that gap than fill it by copying specifications off a retailer listing.
