Washing Machine Capacity Guide: How Many kg Do You Need?

The kg rating is the maximum weight of DRY laundry the drum can wash properly in one load. It is not the drum's volume and not the machine's weight. Overloading beyond it leaves clothes poorly rinsed and strains the motor and bearings.

As a rough guide, one adult generates about 1.5 kg of laundry a day in Indian conditions. A single-bed sheet weighs around 0.5 kg, a bath towel 0.5–0.7 kg, a pair of jeans 0.7–0.8 kg, and a double blanket 2–3 kg.
