Our verdict

IFB built its reputation on washing machines and on an after-sales operation that Indian buyers genuinely trust, and the refrigerator range is an extension of that rather than a legacy business. The machine itself is well made — the door seal, the drawer runners and the shelf hardware are clearly better than Godrej's at similar money, and the bottom-freezer layout with five convertible modes is the right specification.

The unknown is longevity. Refrigerator compressors and sealed systems are a different discipline from washing machines, and IFB does not have a decade of field data in this category the way LG, Samsung and Godrej do. The 10-year compressor warranty covers the expensive failure, and IFB's service record makes a claim less painful than most, but you are buying on brand trust rather than on category track record.

Buy it if IFB's service in your city is strong — that is the single best reason to choose it — and you want bottom-freezer ergonomics with better build than Godrej for less than Bosch. If you would rather have a decade of proven refrigerator field data, take the Haier or the LG.

What we like

  • IFB's service operation is one of the best-regarded in Indian appliances and it covers the refrigerator line too
  • Bottom-freezer layout with five convertible modes at ₹32,500 is competitive with Haier and cheaper than Bosch
  • Build quality is a genuine step above Godrej at similar money — the door seal and drawer runners in particular
  • 218 L usable suits a family of four to five comfortably

What we don't

  • IFB is new to refrigerators, so there is no long-term reliability record the way there is for its washing machines
  • 234 units/year is unremarkable for 291 L
  • Fewer retail display units, so it is harder to see one before buying

When this is not a good choice

Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the refrigerators we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.

  • You live outside a metro or a major service town

IFB's service network is rated good rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.

About IFB

Best known for washing machines, and a comparatively recent entrant in refrigerators. The engineering intent is serious — IFB's frost-free models use multi-airflow cooling and reasonably generous freezer volumes — but the range is young and the buying case rests largely on IFB's genuinely good service reputation from its laundry business rather than on a track record in cooling.
