The Z9 is the best domestic water purifier sold in India, and I say that fully aware of the price. Three things justify it. First, the 3,000 ppm input rating — nothing else mainstream goes that high, and in Jodhpur, Bikaner, Agra or coastal Chennai that headroom is the difference between a membrane that lasts a year and one that dies in five months. Second, Advanced Recovery Technology, which is the most substantive water-saving engineering in the category rather than a sticker. Third, the hot water: 45°C, 80°C and 100°C on demand, properly child-locked, which quietly eliminates the kettle from your counter.
The build quality is on another level from the Indian mainstream. Materials, fit, finish and the feel of the controls all read as a premium appliance rather than a utility box. If you are spending ₹34,000, that matters.
Two real cautions. AO Smith's service network is genuinely thinner than KENT's or Aquaguard's once you leave the metros — before buying, call AO Smith support and confirm there is a technician in your pin code, because a premium purifier with no local service is a bad purchase at any price. And with heating enabled, this is a 230 W appliance, not a 40 W one.

Tanker water here tests between 900 and 1,400 ppm depending on the month and this handles all of it. The 80 degree setting for tea has genuinely changed our morning routine. Expensive, no regrets.
