Hygiene-focused buyers, humid coastal cities, and anyone who has ever opened a purifier tank and been unpleasantly surprised.
Almost every purifier sold in India stores purified water in a sealed plastic tank at room temperature for hours at a time. In a Chennai or Kochi summer, that is an excellent environment for biofilm, and it is the failure mode nobody markets against. LG's answer is the right one on both counts: a stainless-steel tank that resists colonisation, and an automatic UV cycle that sterilises the tank and the outlet tap every couple of hours whether you remember to think about it or not.
That is worth paying for, particularly in humid coastal cities and particularly if there are children or elderly family members in the house. What you are not getting is a high-TDS specialist — for 1,500 ppm borewell water the AO Smith Z9 is the better machine — or a compact one, because this is a counter-top appliance with a real footprint.

LG's purifiers are the premium engineering choice: stainless-steel tanks instead of plastic, dual-protection UV that sterilises the tank and the tap, and a self-sterilising cycle. If tank hygiene is your concern — and with Indian ambient temperatures it should be — this is the answer.

Our previous purifier's plastic tank developed a smell within two years in this humidity. Two years with the LG and the water still tastes of nothing at all, which is exactly what you want. Takes up counter space but worth it.
