When this is not a good choice

Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the air purifiers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.

• Your room is bigger than about 350 sq ft

  It is rated for 698 sq ft, but that assumes roughly one air change an hour. For visible results in Indian winter conditions, halve it — which puts the realistic ceiling near 350 sq ft.

• You want the HEPA grade stated rather than implied

  The brand claims HEPA filtration without naming a grade. H11 and H14 are very different filters, and only 2 of the 13 air purifiers we track name theirs.

• You want to verify it is working rather than trust it

  There is no numeric PM2.5 readout. A colour ring cannot tell you the room went from 180 to 22 µg/m³, and it cannot tell you the filter is exhausted.

• You live outside a metro or a major service town

  Honeywell's service network is rated good rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.
