Our verdict

Most air purifier comparisons obsess over HEPA and ignore carbon, which is a mistake if you live on an Indian arterial road. Particulates are what the number on the display measures; what makes the air actually smell of diesel is gaseous, and only a thick activated-carbon bed removes it. Honeywell puts more carbon in this machine than most rivals at the price, and if your window faces traffic you will notice the difference.

It is a large appliance and the filters are not cheap. But for a ground-floor flat on a main road, or a home near an industrial belt in Ludhiana, Kanpur or Vapi, this is the more appropriate purchase than a purifier optimised purely for PM2.5 numbers.

What we like

  • Unusually thick activated-carbon bed, which is what actually handles traffic and industrial odours
  • 3D airflow design circulates a whole room rather than just the air in front of it
  • Good coverage for a drawing room at a mid price

What we don't

  • Bulky footprint
  • Filter replacement costs are on the higher side

When this is not a good choice

Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the air purifiers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.

  • Your room is bigger than about 235 sq ft

It is rated for 465 sq ft, but that assumes roughly one air change an hour. For visible results in Indian winter conditions, halve it — which puts the realistic ceiling near 235 sq ft.

Work out the CADR you need
  • You need it quiet at the speed that actually works

It reaches 55 dB at its loudest setting. That is fine in a living room and intrusive in a bedroom, and the quiet modes on most purifiers move far less air.

    Compare noise across the database
  • You want the HEPA grade stated rather than implied

The brand claims HEPA filtration without naming a grade. H11 and H14 are very different filters, and only 2 of the 13 air purifiers we track name theirs.

See which brands publish a grade
  • You want to verify it is working rather than trust it

There is no numeric PM2.5 readout. A colour ring cannot tell you the room went from 180 to 22 µg/m³, and it cannot tell you the filter is exhausted.

  • Low running cost is a priority

Consumables and routine service run about ₹4,200 a year, which is in the most expensive quarter of the air purifiers we track. Over five years that puts total ownership near ₹39,990.

Sort the database by five-year cost
  • You live outside a metro or a major service town

Honeywell's service network is rated good rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.
