About this grooming device

  • Two-year warranty and a real Indian service network at under ₹900
  • Titanium-coated blades hold an edge far better than the uncoated steel used by no-name rivals
  • Type-C charging with 60 minutes of runtime and a corded fallback
  • Honest runtime claims, which is not universal in this price band

Our verdict

The under-₹1,000 shelf is dominated by two kinds of product: the Philips BT1232, and a long tail of near-identical marketplace trimmers with optimistic specifications. Syska sits between them, and closer to the Philips end. Titanium-coated blades, a lithium battery, Type-C charging, honest runtime claims and — crucially — a two-year warranty with service centres you can walk into.

Against the Philips BT1232 at ₹949 the comparison is close and mostly favours Philips: DuraPower self-sharpening blades rated for four years beat titanium coating, the five-minute quick charge is genuinely useful, and Philips' spares availability is unmatched. Syska answers with Type-C charging, double the runtime and ₹50 back.

Buy it if Type-C matters to you or if there is a Syska service point nearby and no convenient Philips one. Otherwise the BT1232 is the marginally better machine. Either way, both are materially better purchases than anything cheaper on that shelf.

What we like

  • Two-year warranty and a real Indian service network at under ₹900
  • Titanium-coated blades hold an edge far better than the uncoated steel used by no-name rivals
  • Type-C charging with 60 minutes of runtime and a corded fallback
  • Honest runtime claims, which is not universal in this price band

What we don't

  • 1 mm steps rather than 0.5 mm, so stubble control is coarse
  • Body is only splash-resistant — the head detaches but the trimmer cannot be rinsed whole
  • Plastic build feels its price next to the Mi 2C at ₹400 more
  • Spare combs are harder to source than Philips equivalents

When this is not a good choice

Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the trimmers and shavers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.

  • You live outside a metro or a major service town

Syska's service network is rated good rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.

About Syska

The most credible Indian challenger in the sub-₹1,500 band. Syska's personal-care range is manufactured to a genuinely higher standard than the marketplace no-name trimmers it competes with, with titanium-coated blades, honest runtime figures and — the thing that separates it from the pack — an actual service network you can walk into. It does not match Philips on blade longevity or spare-comb availability, but at ₹800-₹1,400 it is not trying to.

Solid budget option

Two years old and still cutting fine. Type-C is convenient. The 1 mm minimum is the only thing I would change — I would like a shorter stubble setting.

Syska HT1500 Beard Trimmer — frequently asked questions

Which is the best trimmer under ₹1,000 in India — Philips or Syska?
The Philips BT1232 at around ₹949 is the marginally better machine, thanks to self-sharpening DuraPower blades rated for four years, a five-minute quick charge, and unbeatable spares availability. The Syska HT1500 at ₹899 answers with USB Type-C charging, double the runtime at 60 minutes, and its own two-year warranty with walk-in service centres. Both are far better long-term buys than the sub-₹700 marketplace trimmers.
