Lives in my laptop bag
Perfect for a quick tidy before client meetings. Would never use it as my main shaver — it takes forever on two days of growth. For what it is, excellent.
Brand: VGR
A pocketable metal foil shaver for under ₹1,000
Our editorial score
Good — right for the specific buyer
Travel, office touch-ups and anyone who wants a shaver that fits in a pocket for under ₹1,000.
Judge this by what it is for. A pocket shaver's job is to remove a day of growth before a meeting, in a hotel room, or on a train — not to be your bathroom machine. On that job the V-390 is very good: a metal body small enough to actually carry, a foil head that gives a closer finish than any rotary at this price, and Type-C charging so you are not packing another cable.
Ask it to be a primary shaver and it will disappoint immediately. Two foil blades and a small motor mean anything beyond light stubble takes multiple passes and starts to pull. That is not a defect; it is a ₹799 device with a ₹799 motor.
The reason it sits here rather than among the many identical ₹500 mini shavers is the foil head and the metal body. Most sub-₹1,000 pocket shavers are single-head rotaries in plastic housings that dull within months. This is a better tool, and at ₹799 as a second machine it earns its place — with the standard VGR caveat that warranty is whatever the seller says it is.
Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the trimmers and shavers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.
You live outside a metro or a major service town
VGR's service network is rated limited rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.
How we score service reach →Length of cover matters to you
Total cover is 6 months, against a median of 24 months across the grooming purifiers we track.

Specifications are from manufacturer literature and were checked at the last price-verification date. Brands occasionally revise stage counts, tank sizes and warranty terms without changing the model name — confirm against the current listing before purchasing.
The barber-styled marketplace brand. VGR's V-series clippers imitate professional salon equipment — metal bodies, LED charge displays, taper levers, zero-gap adjustable blades — at a fraction of Wahl pricing, and for home barbering and fade practice they are far better than their price suggests. The catch is consistency: VGR sells through marketplace sellers rather than a controlled Indian distribution channel, quality varies between production batches, and warranty support is effectively whatever the seller decides. Buy it as a capable ₹1,200 clipper, not as a ₹6,000 Wahl for less.
Themes we see consistently in owner feedback for this model. These are illustrative of reported experience rather than a statistical sample — read the current marketplace reviews too, and weight recent ones most heavily.
