KENT Grand Plus
The default recommendation for Indian borewell water
- Handles input TDS up to 2,000 ppm, which covers almost every Indian borewell
- Save Water technology recovers roughly 50% versus the 20-25% of older RO designs

TDS and AQI figures on this page are indicative planning ranges compiled from publicly reported patterns for this city — not live readings. Actual values vary by locality, borewell depth and season. Test your own supply with a TDS meter (around ₹300), and get a laboratory analysis if you suspect arsenic, fluoride, nitrate or iron.
Borewell water is a different brief from municipal water, and treating it like one is why households in Bengaluru go through three purifiers in four years. Local groundwater here typically runs 250-750 ppm TDS and is hard, and it carries dissolved solids, hardness, often iron and — depending on your locality — nitrate or fluoride. None of that is visible, and none of it is removed by anything other than reverse osmosis.
Do this in order, because the order is where the money is saved. First get a laboratory test: ₹500-₹1,500 at most water labs in Bengaluru, and the highest-value spend in this whole process. Second, add pre-treatment if the test shows iron above 0.3 ppm or significant turbidity — orange staining in sinks is the tell. Third, buy an RO rated 2,000 ppm or better. Skipping step two is the classic Bengaluru mistake: a good membrane fouled twice a year by iron nobody removed.
Design for summer, not for today. Bengaluru's borewell TDS climbs as the water table drops, routinely by 30-40% between the monsoon and peak summer. If your meter reads at the middle of the 250-750 ppm band now, specify for the top of it.
And separate the two problems that hard water creates. The RO fixes what you drink. It does nothing about the scale crusting your taps, killing geyser elements early and stiffening your laundry — that needs a point-of-entry softener, typically ₹25,000-₹90,000 installed in Bengaluru. Most borewell households here eventually need both.
Scored against Bengaluru's supply — 250-750 ppm TDS, hard water.

A TDS meter tells you one number. A Bengaluru lab panel tells you iron, hardness, nitrate, fluoride and microbiological load — which is what decides whether you need pre-treatment or just a purifier. ₹500-₹1,500 well spent.
Bengaluru groundwater runs 250-750 ppm and concentrates in summer. Buy above the top of that band, never at the middle of it.
Orange staining in sinks or on white clothes means dissolved iron, and iron destroys RO membranes quickly. An iron-removal pre-filter or a configurable pre-treatment train is cheaper than replacing membranes twice a year.
Groundwater can be contaminated by surface seepage, especially after heavy rain. RO alone is not a microbiological guarantee — the UV stage is what makes borewell water safe rather than merely palatable.
On 250-750 ppm supply, plan on a membrane every 10-12 months and pre-filters every six. Roughly ₹4,000-₹5,000 a year in Bengaluru, which belongs in the buying decision rather than arriving as a surprise.

Whatever you buy from this list, the ownership experience in Bengaluruwill be decided by servicing rather than specifications. Phone the brand's customer care with your Bengaluru pin code before you order and ask how many days a filter-change request takes. More than two or three days is a reason to choose a different brand.
