Is Brita a good brand?

Only for taste, and only on already-safe water. A Brita jug is a carbon filter, not a purifier, and it should not be relied on for Indian tap water in most cities.
Brita's filters reduce chlorine taste, odour and some metals. They do not reduce TDS, and they do not remove arsenic, fluoride, nitrate or bacteria — the contaminants that actually matter in Indian supply.
In Europe, where Brita's reputation was built, tap water is already potable and the jug is a taste appliance. Marketing it into India as a 'water purifier' invites exactly the wrong conclusion.
If your supply is treated municipal water below about 200 ppm and your complaint is chlorine taste, a Brita jug at around 2,300 rupees is a reasonable, cheap answer. If you are trying to make questionable water safe, it is the wrong product entirely.

Brita's service network is rated limited in our assessment. That means coverage in India is genuinely limited. Before buying, confirm that a technician serves your area and that replacement filters can be delivered to your pin code — an appliance you cannot service or re-filter is a poor purchase at any price.

Before ordering any purifier, call the brand's customer care, give them your pin code and ask two questions: is there a technician covering this area, and how many days does a filter-change request typically take? Then ask for the AMC price in writing. That five-minute call prevents most of the regret in this category.

Raise service requests through Brita's official website only. Third parties advertising "authorised Britaservice" frequently have no brand relationship, charge more and fit non-genuine parts.
