iRobot Vacuum Cleaners: Review, Models & Prices (2026)
Part of iRobot Corporation · Bedford, Massachusetts, United States
The company that created the category — Roomba launched in 2002 — and still the best in it at the one thing that decides whether a robot survives contact with a real home: not getting stuck. iRobot's obstacle handling, dirt detection and rubber dual-brush system remain genuinely class-leading, and the rubber brushes are the correct answer for pet hair because they do not tangle the way bristle brushes do. Where iRobot has fallen behind is mopping and value: its combo models mop less capably than Chinese rivals costing half as much, and the Indian range is narrow, expensive and irregularly supported.
iRobot strengths
- The best obstacle avoidance and recovery behaviour in the category — it gets stuck less than anything else
- Rubber dual counter-rotating brushes do not tangle with hair, which makes it the standing pet-hair recommendation
- Dirt Detect genuinely works: it identifies dirtier areas and re-cleans them rather than running a fixed pattern
- Mature, stable app and the longest track record for long-term software support in the category
- Self-emptying Clean Base implementations are the most reliable, with the fewest jams
What to watch for
- Mopping is weak — a dragged damp pad, not a rotating or vibrating scrub, and far behind Dreame, Roborock and Ecovacs
- Indian pricing is poor value against Chinese rivals with better specifications at the same money
- Official Indian distribution has been intermittent; verify warranty and service before buying from a marketplace seller
- Consumables (filters, brushes, bags) are expensive and not always available locally
- Lower-end models still use camera or gyroscope navigation rather than LiDAR, which maps far less reliably
Note
iRobot service, AMC & customer care
iRobot's service network is rated limited in our assessment. That means coverage in India is genuinely limited. Before buying, confirm that a technician serves your area and that replacement filters can be delivered to your pin code — an appliance you cannot service or re-filter is a poor purchase at any price.
Before ordering any purifier, call the brand's customer care, give them your pin code and ask two questions: is there a technician covering this area, and how many days does a filter-change request typically take? Then ask for the AMC price in writing. That five-minute call prevents most of the regret in this category.
- Raise service requests through iRobot's official website only — https://www.irobot.in/support. Third parties advertising "authorised iRobotservice" frequently have no brand relationship, charge more and fit non-genuine parts.
- Always insist on a ticket or complaint reference number, and note the promised response window.
- Ask the technician to record input and output PM2.5 readings on the service slip at every visit. It is your evidence base and it makes vague diagnoses much harder to sustain.
