First Braun, will not go back
Switched from a Philips rotary. The foil is noticeably closer on my cheeks and much kinder to my neck. Wet shaving with gel is the way to use it. Cassette cost is the only thing to plan for.

The value entry to genuine foil shaving
Our editorial score
Very good — recommended
Anyone who wants a real foil shave and a real warranty without spending five figures.
Braun's reputation rests on foil geometry and skin comfort, and both are fully present here. The Series 5 shaves close, glides without dragging, and treats sensitive skin far better than any rotary at the price. For a first serious electric shaver, or for someone shaving three or four times a week rather than daily, this is where the Braun range stops being aspirational and starts being sensible.
The missing feature is AutoSense, and its absence is honest rather than crippling. Without density sensing, the motor runs at one power level, so a dense patch under the jaw needs a slower second pass rather than the machine responding. That is exactly the technique most people already use, and it costs you thirty seconds, not comfort.
The EasyClick system is the underrated part of this purchase. Adding a body-groomer or beard-trimmer head turns one ₹9,500 shaver into a small grooming system without buying a second motor and battery. Against a Philips Series 3000 rotary at ₹3,300 it is three times the price; against what it delivers in closeness and skin comfort, that gap is justified for anyone who shaves regularly.
Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the trimmers and shavers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.
Low running cost is a priority
Consumables and routine service run about ₹2,300 a year, which is in the most expensive quarter of the grooming purifiers we track. Over five years that puts total ownership near ₹20,999.

Braun's service network is rated good rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.

The foil-shaver benchmark. Braun's Series 5, 7, 8 and 9 Pro+ are the machines against which close-shave claims are measured, and the reason is the cutting architecture: a pair of oscillating foils flanking a central trimmer, driven by a sonic motor that reads beard density and adjusts power. On flat planes — cheeks, neck, jawline — nothing shaves closer with less pressure, which is precisely why Braun is the standing recommendation for sensitive skin. The trade-off is honest and well known: foils are less forgiving on a strongly contoured face than a rotary head, and Braun's India pricing carries an import premium over the same model in Europe.
Themes we see consistently in owner feedback for this model. These are illustrative of reported experience rather than a statistical sample — read the current marketplace reviews too, and weight recent ones most heavily.
