The sweet spot in the Braun range
Tried the Series 9 in a store and could not justify the extra money. This does everything I need, the cleaning station is genuinely useful, and my skin has been fine since switching from a cartridge razor.
Brand: Braun
Ninety per cent of the Series 9 for sixty per cent of the money
Our editorial score
Outstanding — a top pick in its class
The buyer who wants a genuine top-tier Braun shave without the Series 9's price or cassette bill.
This is the Braun most people should actually buy. The Series 9 Pro+ is the better machine and the Series 8 is the better purchase, because the features stripped out to reach this price are refinements rather than fundamentals. AutoSense is here. The synchronised OptiFoils are here. The IPX7 body, the sonic motor, the SmartCare station and the Braun build quality are all here.
What you give up is the fifth cutting element and the ProLift trimmer, and their absence shows in exactly one place: the neck, where hairs grow flat and in swirling directions. If you have a heavy neck growth you will notice an extra pass. On cheeks, jaw and moustache the two machines are effectively indistinguishable.
At around ₹27,000 the real competition is not the Series 9 but the Panasonic Arc5, which costs similar money and cuts coarse hair faster thanks to a 14,000 CPM motor. Choose Braun for skin comfort and the cleaning station; choose Panasonic for raw speed through dense growth. Both are correct answers, and the Series 8 is the one with better Indian warranty support.
Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the trimmers and shavers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.
Low running cost is a priority
Consumables and routine service run about ₹3,300 a year, which is in the most expensive quarter of the grooming purifiers we track. Over five years that puts total ownership near ₹43,490.

Braun's service network is rated good rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.

The foil-shaver benchmark. Braun's Series 5, 7, 8 and 9 Pro+ are the machines against which close-shave claims are measured, and the reason is the cutting architecture: a pair of oscillating foils flanking a central trimmer, driven by a sonic motor that reads beard density and adjusts power. On flat planes — cheeks, neck, jawline — nothing shaves closer with less pressure, which is precisely why Braun is the standing recommendation for sensitive skin. The trade-off is honest and well known: foils are less forgiving on a strongly contoured face than a rotary head, and Braun's India pricing carries an import premium over the same model in Europe.
Themes we see consistently in owner feedback for this model. These are illustrative of reported experience rather than a statistical sample — read the current marketplace reviews too, and weight recent ones most heavily.

Thick, coarse, fast-growing beards — the specification that beats Braun on raw cutting speed.
