November proof
Outdoor AQI was 420 and my bedroom held at 30-40 with the door shut. The number on the display is the reason I trust it. Filter change after 20 months cost less than I expected.

The sensible default for most Indian homes
Our editorial score
Outstanding — a top pick in its class
Most homes in most Indian cities — the default answer if you want one purifier that just works.
If you want to stop researching and buy something correct, buy this. The AC2939 gets the two things right that actually determine whether an air purifier improves your life: enough CADR to genuinely turn over the air in a real Indian living room, and a numeric PM2.5 readout so you can see it working rather than trusting a glowing ring.
That numeric display deserves emphasis. Most purifiers show you a colour. A colour cannot tell you that your bedroom went from 180 to 22 µg/m³ in forty minutes, and it cannot tell you that your filter is exhausted. Being able to read the number is what turns an air purifier from an act of faith into an appliance.
Filter economics are the other reason this wins. Philips filters are stocked everywhere and cost sane money, which is why these units are still running in Indian homes five years later while cheaper purifiers with unobtainable filters sit unused in storerooms.
Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the air purifiers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.
Your room is bigger than about 425 sq ft
It is rated for 851 sq ft, but that assumes roughly one air change an hour. For visible results in Indian winter conditions, halve it — which puts the realistic ceiling near 425 sq ft.

The sensible default for most Indian homes, in two different categories. Philips' AC-series air purifiers combine real HEPA filtration, an honest numeric PM2.5 readout rather than a vague colour ring, and India's best-supported purifier service network at prices well below Dyson. In male grooming Philips is simply the market — OneBlade, the BT/MG trimmer families and the Series 3000-9000 shavers together hold a share no rival approaches, and the reason is unglamorous: spare combs, replacement blades and service centres exist in tier-2 and tier-3 India, which is where most trimmers actually die.
Themes we see consistently in owner feedback for this model. These are illustrative of reported experience rather than a statistical sample — read the current marketplace reviews too, and weight recent ones most heavily.

Running it in the bedroom overnight has cut morning sneezing noticeably. Quiet on sleep mode. On turbo it is definitely loud, but you only need that for an hour.
