About this grooming device

  • 14,000 CPM linear motor is roughly 40% faster than Braun's sonic drive — it cuts dense hair rather than pushing it
  • 30-degree nanopolished blades slice hair cleanly instead of tearing, which is why irritation is low despite the speed
  • The best machine here for coarse, thick, fast-growing beard hair, which describes a very large share of Indian buyers
  • Blades last two to three years against Braun's 12-18 months, so real running cost is lower despite a pricier part
  • Multi-flex pivoting head follows jaw and neck contours better than a fixed Braun head
  • Outstanding wet-shave performance — many owners never shave dry again

Our verdict

If you have a genuinely coarse, dense beard, this is the machine. The specification that decides it is motor speed: Panasonic's linear drive runs at about 14,000 cycles per minute against roughly 10,000 for Braun's sonic motor, and the blades are ground to a 30-degree nanopolished edge rather than a conventional profile. The practical result is that dense hair is cut on contact instead of being pushed, bent and cut on the second attempt.

That matters more in India than most reviews acknowledge. A large share of Indian men have coarse, fast-growing facial hair with strong directional swirls on the neck — exactly the load that makes slower shavers drag and irritate. Owners who move to an Arc5 from a mid-range rotary routinely describe halving their shave time, which is not marketing language but a direct consequence of cutting speed.

The reason it is not the outright top pick here is Indian support rather than engineering. Distribution is thin, a lot of stock arrives as imports with uncertain local warranty, and the WES9032 blade set usually needs ordering. If you are comfortable managing that, the Arc5 is arguably the best-value premium shaver sold in India — blades last two to three years against Braun's eighteen months, so it is cheaper to run despite the higher part cost.

What we don't

  • Panasonic's Indian retail and service presence is thin; many units are imports with limited local warranty
  • Replacement WES9032 blade sets often have to be ordered rather than bought locally
  • 45-minute runtime is shorter than Braun's 60
  • LCD and styling feel more utilitarian than the Braun Series 9's finish
  • Fewer Indian service centres than Philips or Braun outside the top eight cities

When this is not a good choice

Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the trimmers and shavers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.

  • Low running cost is a priority

Consumables and routine service run about ₹2,800 a year, which is in the most expensive quarter of the grooming purifiers we track. Over five years that puts total ownership near ₹41,990.

Sort the database by five-year cost
  • You live outside a metro or a major service town

Panasonic's service network is rated limited rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.

About Panasonic

The engineer's choice, and the most under-bought premium shaver brand in India. Panasonic's Arc series is built around two specifications nobody else matches: blades ground to a 30-degree nanopolished edge, and a linear motor spinning at 14,000 cycles per minute against Braun's roughly 10,000. The practical effect is that an Arc5 or Arc6 cuts thick, coarse, fast-growing beard hair — the common Indian beard type — in fewer passes and with less irritation than anything else sold here. Poor retail presence, not product, is why so few Indian buyers own one.

Halved my shaving time

Very thick beard, used to take eight minutes with a Braun Series 7. This does it in four and my neck is less irritated. Getting replacement blades in India is the only headache — I had to order online and wait.

Farhan· DelhiVerified purchase· 27 January 2026

Better shave, worse support

Cutting performance is genuinely better than the Braun I replaced. But mine came as an import and the warranty situation was unclear. Buy from a seller who confirms Indian warranty in writing.

Panasonic Arc5 ES-LV67 — frequently asked questions

Panasonic Arc5 vs Arc6 — which is better?
The Arc6 adds a sixth cutting blade, a responsive beard sensor across more zones and a more refined body, and typically costs 50-70% more in India. On most beards the Arc5 matches it closely, because five blades already clear a full beard in a pass. Buy the Arc6 only if you have an exceptionally dense beard and want the best available; for almost everyone the Arc5 ES-LV67 is the smarter purchase.
Panasonic Arc5 vs Braun Series 5 — which should I buy?
They target different priorities despite similar positioning. The Panasonic Arc5 has a 14,000 CPM motor and 30-degree nanopolished blades, so it cuts coarse, dense hair faster and in fewer passes. The Braun Series 5 has better Indian warranty support, cheaper replacement cassettes and slightly better sensitive-skin comfort. Choose Panasonic for a thick beard and speed; choose Braun for support and skin comfort.
