About this grooming device

  • Fixes the Series 3000's one real flaw — lithium-ion with a one-hour charge and a five-minute quick charge
  • 120-minute runtime is the longest of any Philips grooming device sold in India
  • Turbo mode makes a genuine difference on dense, coarse hair, which is where budget multigroom kits stall
  • Includes a proper body groomer with a skin guard, so you are not using a face comb below the neck
  • Metal hair-clipper guard rather than plastic — noticeably better for home haircuts
  • 13 pieces with Philips self-sharpening blades under all of them, so running cost stays at zero

Our verdict

This is what the Series 3000 should have been, at a price that makes you think about it. Every meaningful complaint about the MG3730 — the 16-hour NiMH charge, the missing body groomer, the plastic clipper guard, the lack of power on dense hair — is answered here. If you are going to rely on one device for everything, this is the one to rely on.

The turbo mode is the specification that justifies the premium in Indian conditions. Coarse, thick, fast-growing hair stalls budget multigroom motors, which is why cheap kits feel like they are dragging rather than cutting on a dense beard or on chest hair. The extra power on the 7000 makes single-pass cutting realistic where the 3000 needs two.

Whether it is worth double the 3000's price is a genuine question and the answer is usually no. The cutting difference is real but modest, and the honest driver is the charging behaviour: if you groom on impulse rather than on schedule, the one-hour charge and five-minute top-up are worth every rupee. If you can remember to charge the night before, buy the 3000 and spend the difference elsewhere.

What we like

What we don't

  • At ₹4,499 it costs roughly double the Series 3000 for a modest cutting-quality gain
  • Still not a waterproof body, which is hard to accept at this price
  • Thirteen attachments is more than most people will ever fit — count the heads you will use before paying for all of them
  • Bulkier in the hand than the BT3211 with the full-size head fitted

About Philips

The sensible default for most Indian homes, in two different categories. Philips' AC-series air purifiers combine real HEPA filtration, an honest numeric PM2.5 readout rather than a vague colour ring, and India's best-supported purifier service network at prices well below Dyson. In male grooming Philips is simply the market — OneBlade, the BT/MG trimmer families and the Series 3000-9000 shavers together hold a share no rival approaches, and the reason is unglamorous: spare combs, replacement blades and service centres exist in tier-2 and tier-3 India, which is where most trimmers actually die.

Worth it for the turbo mode

I have thick chest hair that made my old kit stall constantly. Turbo mode goes through it in one pass. Quick charge is excellent. Only thing I would change is making the body waterproof at this price.

Great kit, I use six of the thirteen heads

Genuinely good machine and the metal clipper guard is much better than plastic for home haircuts. But be honest with yourself about attachment count — half the box is still in the case unused.

Philips MG7715/15 Multigroom Series 7000 (13-in-1) — frequently asked questions

Philips Multigroom 7000 vs 9000 — is the 9000 worth it in India?
For most buyers, no. The 9000 series adds a steel-bodied handle, more attachments and a premium case, but shares the same DualCut blade technology and comparable cutting performance. In India the 9000 typically costs 40-60% more for refinement rather than capability. Spend the difference on a dedicated shaver instead.
Which is the best all-in-one grooming kit under ₹5,000 in India?
The Philips MG7715 Multigroom Series 7000 at roughly ₹4,499. It combines 13 attachments, self-sharpening DualCut blades with zero running cost, a 120-minute lithium-ion battery with five-minute quick charge, turbo mode for coarse hair, and a proper body groomer. The Vega 9-in-1 is cheaper but its blades and motor do not hold up as well over three-plus years.
