HEPA plus Plasmacluster ion technology
Our editorial score
Very good — recommended
Humid coastal homes where odours and mustiness are as much of a problem as dust.
Judge this on its HEPA filtration, which is genuinely good, and treat Plasmacluster as a bonus rather than the reason to buy. Active ion technologies do have published research behind them, but they are far harder for a buyer to verify than a straightforward H13 particulate rating — so make sure the fundamentals stack up first. They do here.
The two-year filter life is the underrated spec. In Mumbai or Kochi humidity, a well-built quiet unit with cheap long-term running costs is exactly right, and Sharp's build quality is among the best here.
Every condition below is derived from this product's published specifications and from how it compares with the air purifiers we track — so you can check each one against your own room, supply or budget rather than take our word for it.
Your room is bigger than about 160 sq ft
It is rated for 320 sq ft, but that assumes roughly one air change an hour. For visible results in Indian winter conditions, halve it — which puts the realistic ceiling near 160 sq ft.
Work out the CADR you need →You want the HEPA grade stated rather than implied
The brand claims HEPA filtration without naming a grade. H11 and H14 are very different filters, and only 2 of the 13 air purifiers we track name theirs.
See which brands publish a grade →You want to verify it is working rather than trust it
There is no numeric PM2.5 readout. A colour ring cannot tell you the room went from 180 to 22 µg/m³, and it cannot tell you the filter is exhausted.
You live outside a metro or a major service town
Sharp's service network is rated good rather than excellent. Filter availability and callout times are what decide whether a purifier is still running in five years, and they are worth checking for your pin code before you buy.
How we score service reach →Strong transparency. This is separate from our review score above — it measures how well documented, how supportable and how expensive to own this air purifier is, scored on 7 of 7 axes by formula, with no manual override. See the methodology.

Specifications are from manufacturer literature and were checked at the last price-verification date. Brands occasionally revise stage counts, tank sizes and warranty terms without changing the model name — confirm against the current listing before purchasing.
Sharp's differentiator is Plasmacluster ion technology alongside conventional HEPA — an active approach that targets airborne microbes and odours in addition to filtering particulates. Well engineered, quiet and durable, with a loyal following in humid coastal cities.
