Jaipur has very hard water — dissolved calcium and magnesium at levels you can see. It shows up as white crust around taps and shower heads, geyser elements failing in two years instead of eight, soap that will not lather, spotted glassware and laundry that comes out stiff. Local supply runs 500-1400 ppm TDS from borewell and groundwater, and hardness travels with those dissolved solids.
The critical thing to understand before spending money in Jaipur is that this is two separate problems needing two separate solutions, and conflating them is expensive. Problem one is the water you drink, which an RO purifier fixes completely: it removes calcium and magnesium along with everything else dissolved, and a TDS controller blends minerals back to a level that tastes right.
Problem two is everything else in the house — and a drinking-water RO does absolutely nothing about it, because it only treats the few litres you drink. Scale on your geyser, washing machine, taps and tiles requires a point-of-entry softener treating the whole supply, typically ₹25,000-₹90,000 installed in Jaipur depending on flow rate. No purifier under your sink, at any price, will change that.
The sensible sequence in Jaipur: buy the drinking-water RO now, get a hardness number (a lab test, not a guess), and cost out a softener separately once you know it. Most households here on borewell and groundwater eventually need both.

The single most expensive mistake in Jaipur is buying a premium purifier expecting the scale to stop. It will not. Separate the budgets and the decisions.
Hardness and TDS travel together here, so specify 2,000 ppm rated and expect the membrane to work harder than the rating suggests.
Above roughly 300 mg/L as CaCO₃ — common in Jaipur — scaling shortens membrane life measurably. Antiscalant dosing or a small pre-softener ahead of the membrane pays back in membrane replacements avoided.
On hard water, sediment and carbon cartridges load faster. Six-month changes are the floor, not the target, and they are what keeps the membrane out of trouble.
