Tanker water — treat every delivery as unknown
The problem
Tanker supply has a property no other source has: it changes between deliveries, and you cannot verify any of it. Source, tank hygiene, filling practice and transit conditions all vary, and none of them are visible to the customer.
That variability changes the treatment logic. On a stable municipal supply you can characterise the water once and specify accordingly. On tanker supply, a test result describes one delivery.
The dominant risk is microbiological rather than chemical, and it is the risk that can change within a day.
What this situation actually needs
Requirements first, in the order they matter. Note that several of these are not products.
Reliable disinfection
Microbiological contamination is the variable risk, and it can appear with a single delivery.
UV with an in-life lamp, or UF, plus boiling as a fallback during any doubt
Turbidity control ahead of UV
Tanker water often carries sediment, and turbidity shields organisms from UV.
Staged sediment filtration, 20 µm ahead of 5 µm, inspected frequently
TDS reduction where the source is saline
Tanker water in coastal and water-scarce areas is often drawn from high-TDS sources.
RO where measured TDS warrants it — measured on your own deliveries
Storage hygiene
The part of the chain you actually control, and a common contamination point.
Tank cleaning on a recorded schedule, covered and sealed tanks
The specification
Written as a specification rather than a product name, deliberately. A specification survives a model being discontinued and can be taken to any shop; a product recommendation expires.

What to avoid
In every one of these situations there is a purchase that looks obviously right and is wrong.
Specifying treatment from one water test
A test on tanker supply describes that delivery. The next one may come from a different source entirely.
Relying on RO alone with no disinfection stage
The membrane excludes organisms, and the storage tank downstream is a recontamination point. On a supply with variable microbiological quality, that gap matters.
Skipping tank cleaning because the water is treated
The tank is between the tanker and your purifier. It is the part of the chain you control and the one most often neglected.
Judging tanker water by clarity
Contaminated water very often looks, tastes and smells completely normal. Clarity is not a safety test.
